Do you ever have those moments when you sit back and think…I am so blessed? I had one of those moments a couple of days ago when I was driving down Franklin Road. It seems that I have those moments often while driving down Franklin Road. I don’t know if it is the beautiful homes with their sprawling front yards on either side, the hills that you see up ahead or just the fact that most of the time when I’m on Franklin Road I’m driving to my Aunt and Uncle’s house.
Having family here in Nashville has made a world of difference for me moving to a new town. Words can’t express how blessed I feel to have family in my life. I live with a cousin who is one of my role models in life, and I get to go to school with another cousin who is the funniest person I know. It’s so wonderful when you actually enjoy hanging out with your cousins and consider them friends. So…moving to a new town I started out with two great friends and an extra set of parents.
If I was giving advice to a twenty something year old about starting fresh and moving to a new city for work or what have you…I would say move somewhere you have family. Because who else will start you a bubble bath and make you dinner after a long day at work, or allow you to tag along with all of his friends. The truth is they know where you’ve been and they give you the confidence to get where you’re going. I am thrilled with the new friends I’ve made while I’ve been here, but if it weren’t for family my experience in Nashville wouldn’t be nearly as wonderful as it is.
